Big Yellow
The yellow color has been so maligned
Not many folk would dare admit
A preference for it lest they find
A questioning from others for it.
Some say yellow’s the color of cowards.
A hero has no hint of yellow in him –
And yellow doesn’t reap rewards
Reserved for heroes full of vim.
I think the children have it right.
In many pictures that they paint
They show yellow sun providing light
Which no cloud would dare to taint.
Roses, daffodils and tulips too
Are yellow as the canaries bright.
There’s beauty in this lowly hue
And some say it’s a welcome sight.
This most visible of colors bright
Was paid a tribute by selection
To color busses for the children’s sight
As they ride them to their education.
They’re proud of their big yellow
That they ride on to the school.
They love the driver, that fine fellow,
Friendly guide on their big yellow. Cool!
