Briefly: About our Association

  • The Rochester Area School Bus Safety Road-eo (RASBSRA), began in 1978 to promote school bus safety and professionalism.

  • Annual road-eos are hosted by member school bus transportation departments with the support of their respective operators (school districts or private transportation organizations).

  • Rochester Area Transportation Supervisors Association (RATSA) is the Rochester Chapter of the New York Association for Pupil Transportation. Transportation Departments or Services must be members of RATSA to participate in the Rochester Area Road-eo.
  • Rochester Area School Bus Road-eo Association sponsors the winners of the Rochester Area Road-eo at a July state event conducted by the New York Association for Pupil Transportation held in Albany.
  • Winners of the New York State Road-eo compete in a national events.
  • The Annual Rochester Area Road-eo is actually two different road-eos held at the same event.
    • School Bus Drivers: A competition of knowledge and driving skills in one of three categories of school bus type: van, conventional or transit.
    • Special Needs: Teams of Attendants and drivers are challenged with the various situations involved with transporting students with special needs.

  • Rochester Area School Bus Safety Road-eo Association is made up of representatives of each participating school bus transportation department. Representatives meet monthly (except for the summer months) to organize the annual road-eo.
  • Standards used by RASBSRA are set by the National Association of Pupil Transportation.
