Would you like to see our bus drivers maneuver a conventional school bus (35 feet long and 10.5 feet high) in ways most people couldn't’t drive the average car? Come and check out the twenty-eighth Annual School Bus Safety Road-co with 34 participating pupil transportation services on June 3 starting at 8:00 am., held at the Churchville-Chili Central School District Transportation Center, 3461 Wcstside Drive. Gene Ehrrnentraut, C-C driver, is this year’s chairperson and we ar the host school district.

Last year our drivers were outstanding, taking five of the top ten positions in the conventional bus division. Gene Erhmentraut finished first, Ron Hubble second, Steve Trenton fourth, Dave Sanderson sixth, Mary Steedman seventh and then Melanie Meyer finished in twentieth place, Ann Williams twenty- first and Bitsy McHugh twenty-second. Ehrmentraut, Trenton and Sanderson also competed in the transit division and finished third, seventh and eighth respectively This definitely proves that we have some of the best drivers in the area transporting our precious cargo.
This School Bus Safety Road-co is held to test the knowledge and driving skills of area school bus drivers in a friendly to promote safety and professionalism. The competition entails completing a written exam and then driving a specially designed course under the watchful eves of a panel of judges. There are three classes
in which to compete including mini, transit, conventional bus and also a separate Special Needs event in which teams of attendants and drivers are challenged with various situations involving the transportation of students with special needs. |
