The purpose of the roadeo is to provide drivers with an opportunity to compete in competition of driving skill.

The course will consist of obstacles, which will be marked with traffic cones, barrels and tennis balls. The drivers will maneuver their buses without touching ht markers to avoid deduction of points fro their total scores.

Area merchants have donated awards for presentation to top drivers.

The Gates Chili Bus drivers, again this year, id not have any injury accidents while they covered a total of 774,574 miles. Property damage accidents include four preventable and eight non-preventable.

A special thanks from the Gates Chili Community was conveyed by Mr. Donald Wetzel, President of Gates Chili Central School District’s Board of Education, Dr. William Dudey, Superintendent of Schools, also commended the drivers and presented them with a Pupil Transportation Safety Citation issued by the New York State Education department for an injury free record during the 1977-78 school year.
